The Folding Mechanism

In an emergency this permanently installed fire escape ladder changes from a slim, drainpipe-like shape into a safe and sturdy means of escape. By leaning out of the window and pulling a lock-pin the ladder folds out and transforms into a solid fire escape ladder. Multi-Storey Houses The Modum ladder is suited for two and three storey buildings. Longer ladders can be provided on request. Each escape window can have its own release station with a lock-pin, which allows the section of ladder below the window to be opened.   In case of a three storey building the person at the top floor can release the entire ladder while the person at the first floor can release just the section below him. Security Lock-Pins Every release station is locked with a security lock-pin, which is pulled in an emergency. The pins are out of reach of unauthorised people on the ground and are shaped specifically to avoid tampering. Installation The Modum ladder has been designed modular for easy self-installation. Each ladder comes with a free installation DVD/Video describing every step of the installation. You can also request the DVD/Video for free (€4.99 postage) prior to committing yourself to a purchase. This allows you to assess the possibility of a self-installation. All elements and special tools required for the installation are provided with the ladder.
